Around town: Pachanga

The Second Annual Latino Music Festival, also known as Pachanga, was an absolute blast! There were 3 stages with 20 bands staggered for maximum listening pleasure. Pachanga-goers enjoyed traditional latin rhythm songs, soulful sounds of Cordero, pop-rock by The Chris Perez Band, and ol' school mariachi with a twist -an all-female group!
In addition to the sounds were the beautiful sights of Fiesta Gardens -one of the gems of East Austin for sure.

Hello neighbors

Hi there South Austin!

At yesterday's Travis County Democratic Party's County Executive Committee meeting, I was appointed as Precinct 463's Precinct Chair. The agenda was pretty packed -the meeting ran from 6 to about 8:30 -yowsers! But it was really interesting and I even ran into acquaintances who I hadn't known were precinct chairs too. After the meeting the first of a two-part precinct chair training was offered. I tweeted from the meeting, but wasn't able to tweet the training.

There's so much work to be done before the 2010 elections, but I'm confident that our neighborhood has the optimal climate for growing democracy and getting out the vote! In the coming weeks I'll be blogging about my efforts as precinct chair and post information on how you can become a block captain or participate/support the democratic party in Precinct 463 in other ways.

You can find me on Twitter and Facebook, and as soon as a Precinct 463 Twitter account is up I'll be sure to share that with you.

In solidarity,
Noelita
